Just the other madly hectic Saturday I stopped to reflect on the truly marvellous work going on in the salon - and it took my breath away. For it wasn't just the great work or the fabulous, almost theatrical atmosphere or even the kicking music that thrilled me - but that this was normal for Stage One and that my dream of creating a 'World within a shop' is here.

It's in wonderful Bond Street and I love It!

I started working with hair at 13, and even then realised that the pretentious side of hairdressing was not for me. My main question throughout my early career (and still is!) was 'WHY??'

My mentor was a top hair stylist in show, theatrical and photographic productions. He showed me through show, TV, competition work - and even a course in trichology (the science of hair and scalp) - that I could do it as well as him, if not better! I also learnt that communication is the most important part of hairdressing. I have run my own salons, and trained many other successful hairdressing professionals - passing on my unparalleled knowledge of colour and cut to others.

Neil and I have crossed paths many times over the last 15 years, have grown in hairdressing together; we have a similar philosophy of hairdressing - so when he asked me to join the team, it seemed right. Still crazy about hair after all these years. I was never happy in the chorus line - I like to be centre stage and my performance is fabulously original.

I used to be a manager for cabaret shows: styling, make-up, hair and performing were all my forte. The more I worked in theatre, the more I could see that hairdressing would become my full-time career so it was no coincidence that I chose Stage One as the ideal arena for my hair and make-up skills.

Through hard work and self-belief I achieved top hairdressing qualifications and began building my name and reputation. I strive for classic beautiful work and if my client is happy then so am I - and they always are!

I started working in Stage One in 2005. I love cutting hair, getting to know my clients, and changing people's lives. I love the theatrical edge of Stage One - it's right next door to the Theatre Royal stage door, which means that we get a lot of clients from the theatrical world.

I started hairdressing at 15. My favourite work is creating funky looks. I love the difference that colour makes to your hair, and enjoy doing creative, modern styles.

I often sing and dance when I'm cutting hair - and I'm working my way to the front of the stage where there are no boundaries - and I'm ready to take a lead role.

Having been a nail tech for 11 years I still love the variety of clients that come to me. I like not knowing what the day holds or who's going to come through the door. Nails are my passion!

I specialise in acrylic and I also enjoy pedicures and waxing. I also have a fantastic spray tan machine which as well as giving a great tan is also a safer way of getting colour.

I'm a lively and fun person so working at Stage One suits me perfectly, as Neil and the gang are as mad as me!

My passion for Hairdressing was recognised at an early age I was always styling my family and friends hair or helping out as often as I could at the local salon. So it was no surprise that I went straight to Hairdressing College when I left school! 

Once completing my two year course it became my mission to set myself up as a successful stylist in the best salon I could find where I felt I could build a fashionable and varied clientele.

When I was introduced to Neil and the team at Stage One I knew instantly this was the perfect place for me to unleash my flair on the people of Brighton!!

Stage One’s atmosphere is always buzzing between clients and staff. I look forward to creating great cuts colours and creations and meeting a whole new range of people in my new life here in Brighton!
